I binge watched Dream Home Makeover like the rest of us and I love Shea McGee's style. Although I tend to put a different spin on my spaces, some of my favorite aspects of Studio McGee and McGee & CO style are the classic, timeless light fixtures. Changing up lighting can transform a space more quickly than more other details!
The only problem with McGee & CO lighting is...its freaking expensive! For me, at least, and most of my clients, spending thousands on a light fixture is just beyond our budget. And that's ok! Drawing inspiration from great designers is the perfect place to start in designing your perfect space.
To help solve for the big pricing problem, I've put together some great McGee & CO lights and my favorite "dupes" that recreate the style (with a Higher Home Studio spin!). Check them out and let me know what you love/hate/buy. Reach out to kirsten@higherhomestudio.com for the links!
Classic black metal chandeliers with shade
A timeless style that works both above a dining table or a kitchen island. Though I would recommend not placing these near a stove, because shades get dirty!
Black pendant with globe light
This is one of my favorite classic styles (and one I'm putting in my own kitchen!). I love the brass accents or plain black for a perfect pop of light and weight above a kitchen island or countertop. And btw, you can mix metals.
Brass sputnik style chandelier
This style feels more out of Shea's typical wheelhouse but its on the McGee & Co site and I love a sputnik to give a traditional home some pizazz. In fact, it was the first style of light fixture I added to our last house and I still love it! Because of the popularity of midcentury modern design in the last decade, this type of light is actually pretty easy to find in less expensive "dupes"!
